Advancing traditional strategies for testing hydrological model fitness in a changing climate

چکیده
Mitigation of adverse effects global warming relies on accurate flow projections under climate change. These usually focus changes in hydrological signatures, such as 100-year floods, which are estimated through statistical analyses simulated flows baseline and future conditions. However, models used for these simulations traditionally calibrated to reproduce entire series, rather than statistics signatures. Here, we consider this dichotomy by testing whether performance indicators (e.g. Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient) informative about model ability distributions trends the Results streamflow 50 high-latitude catchments with 3DNet-Catch show that high performances according traditional do not provide assurance or signatures well reproduced. We therefore suggest reproducing should be included process selection change impact studies.

Climate model uncertainty versus conceptual geological uncertainty in hydrological modeling
Projections of climate change impact are associated with a cascade of uncertainties including in CO2 emission scenarios, climate models, downscaling and impact models. The relative importance of the individual uncertainty sources is expected to depend on several factors including the quantity that is projected. In the present study the impacts of climate model uncertainty and geological model u...
متن کاملEl Niño in a changing climate: a multi-model study
In many parts of the world, climate projections for the next century depend on potential changes in the properties of the El Niño – Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The current staus of these projections is assessed by examining a large set of climate model experiments prepared for the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Firstly, the patterns and time series o...

In this paper we combined a multimodel ensemble based on 15 regional climate models with a multicatchment approach to explore the hydrologic sensitivity of 14 neighboring and rather similar catchments to changing climate conditions. Current (1982–2010) and future (2062–2090) streamflow was simulated with the HBV model. A diagnostic approach was used, which considered major behavioral catchment ...
